Our History

Vantage Eye Center was founded in 1980 as Salinas Valley Eye Associates by Dr. Glenn Smith, MD. When Dr. Stuart Paul, MD, joined the practice, he became the first ophthalmologist on the Monterey Peninsula to perform cataract surgery using intraocular lens implants. This innovation shaped the future of eye care in the region.

From those early days, our commitment to advanced technology and exceptional patient outcomes has remained at the core of everything we do. Today, with three thriving locations and a growing team of specialists, Vantage Eye Center continues to expand its services, offering a comprehensive range of eye care, from thorough evaluations to the most advanced surgical treatments available.
