Vantage Eye COVID-19 Response

Due to the COVID-19 “coronavirus” outbreak, and in line with recommendations from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the CDC, we are taking several measures to ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and community. The doctors at Vantage have been aggressively monitoring the coronavirus pandemic both in our state and neighboring communities, and although Vantage remains open, we have instituted the following changes to maximize the safety of all:

Vantage Eye Center will be limiting patient visits to those patients who have an urgent or emergent need, as determined/guided by our national authorities and best judgment. As such, your appointment may need to be rescheduled to a future date after the greatest risk has passed.

Any patient with a respiratory illness, or those who have traveled, or had a family member travel to a high-risk area in the past 14 days should return home and contact their primary physician.

With rare exceptions, family members should not accompany the patient into the center for their exam. We have translators available for our monolingual Spanish-speaking patients. Exceptions would include wheelchair-bound patients or a minorʼs parent. In these situations, only one family member will be allowed to accompany the patient.

Patients will be asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding the nature of their visit, and to include a cellular phone number and your pharmacy of choice. You can include any information you feel relates to your urgent issue on the questionnaire. However, please limit your information to your most urgent issue.oPatients will be asked to wait in their cars until they are called into the center for their exams by text or phone call.

During the visit, patients are asked to refrain from talking, and the physician and staff will keep talking to a minimum during the visit to limit the potential of viral spread. It is especially important to not talk during your examination.

Your physician will provide a basic brief explanation of your condition and will send in any prescriptions or refills to the pharmacy you indicated on your questionnaire. Please be aware that this explanation may be shorter than is typical or usual given the unique circumstances that we are currently facing. We appreciate your understanding.

Be assured that every surface in our exam rooms and testing areas will be thoroughly disinfected between patients according to the protocols recommended by the CDC and American Academy of Ophthalmology.

We understand that these temporary measures pose an inconvenience to all involved, and ask for your understanding as we all adjust to this public health issue. Vantage Eye is committed to providing you with the best possible eye care while taking these necessary measures to protect you and our community at large.
