Natalie Chung, M.D., joined Vantage Eye Center in 2022. She is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and laser procedures. Dr. Chung is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is dedicated to providing thoughtful, patient-centered care through the use of advanced surgical techniques.

Education

Dr. Chung earned her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Pomona College in 2011. During her undergraduate years, she developed a strong interest in community service through volunteer work at Lestonnac Free Clinic in Orange, California, and advocacy efforts focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion. Her undergraduate research focused on biochemistry and animal physiology, with projects that examined improvements in pregnancy test accuracy and the filtration systems of insects.

She went on to earn her Medical Degree from the University of California, San Diego, where she cultivated a focused interest in visual systems and ophthalmology. Dr. Chung spent an additional year at Stanford University’s Hagey Lab for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, researching adipose-derived stromal cells and publishing multiple scholarly works. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, gaining extensive experience with advanced technology, intraocular lenses, and minimally invasive glaucoma procedures.

Dr. Chung’s academic work has been recognized with admission to the Sigma Xi Honors Society and a Rose Hills Foundation research grant. She has presented at national meetings, including the American Surgical Congress and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Personal Interests

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Chung maintains a strong connection to the arts, including painting, drawing, and dance. She enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the Monterey area.
